Cost Of Bow Window Installation

The bow window installation costs will typically run $600 to $1200, depending on the size of the unit and the install requirements. The price can be either less or more than this range depending on the specifics of the project, but for a standard installation, this is the average price range. We are going to talk about three different pricing scenarios and discuss what would be involved in each.

Insert Window Installation

This is the low end price range for a bow window project. Typically this will involve a prefabricated bow window set up, meaning the installers don't have to do any work to the frames. Unlike replacement inserts, contractors will nearly always get down to the rough opening before installing a bow or bay. This insures that they are working with a solid framework and there is no damage to the surrounding frame that would compromise the long term stability of the install.

Standard Window Installation

This is the standard range for bow windows. These projects require 3 to 4 installers to remove the existing windows, to clean and prep the rough opening, take accurate measurements, proper shim the window, installed, caulk and seal the window. The installation typically involves a cable or bracing system so the installers need to be well versed in the particular brand of window to insure proper installation.

Full Frame Window Installation

Full frame, complex installations should be very comprehensive and complete. In addition to the steps above, the installers should use a bottom sill pan as an added moisture barrier, porperly flash or wrap the outside of the window and insure that the bow integrates extremely well aesthetically on both the inside and the outside. This may involve trim work or capping on the outside as well as possible wood trim on the inside. At this price range, you also may be dealing with five, six or more windows as part of the bow and this obivously would add to the cost.
